2024 Marlin Trim Tabs

My guess is they ditched the pocket tabs so they can offer Seakeeper Ride
i was just coming here to say this. this is the most logical reason. i have heard amazing things about SK Ride

Whatever the reason, having them mounted to the transom eliminates those boats from a potential purchase. Definitely something to be aware of going forward.

i think its only a matter of time before trim tabs on new boats are 100% replaced by SK Ride, especially on upper tier boats

If that really is a significant factor, go with the SK ride system and you will have a win-win.

Maybe we need to reconsider the SK ride theory.? They have 2 models. One for pockets, one without.

SK Ride is the new kid on the block introduced in 2022 while others made automatic trim tab control many years before them. Interceptors were developed back end of 90's by Engineers who founded later Humphree in 2002. Interceptors became known mainly due Volvo Penta marketing. One of the Humphree co-founders started his own company ZipWake back in 2015 with more than a half a million units sold.
Both of them have a auto leveling system, same to Seakeeper Ride and all 3 systems do what they promise, making a boat ride similar to a magic carpet.

One of the advantages of interceptors is the small size what will not interfere with a boarding ladder and another is that "in theory" Interceptors are more fuel efficient than trim tabs providing the same stern lift.

But as Seakeeper is the hype in this moment Manufacturers will think twice to install the much lesser known Zipwake or Humphree interceptors, what is somehow understandable.

my GUESS, is that there was a mid-year update to accommodate the SK Ride. we would need to know the build date of each boat. or call grady and ask. also, i have been wrong before and will definitely be wrong again.

Interceptor style trim control would not be a bad idea and for the the pockets have to go and if i should need to install trim control on a boat without i would choose Interceptor style over trim tabs. What i believe that two hulls, one with and one without pockets will not happen as it would be a build nightmare for GW, so i expect that they probably just build the hull without pockets and install Interceptors what is ok. If they choose the SK Ride system it's most likely a commercial decision as some more experienced and more detailed in to boating buyers know the Seakeeper company and for who don't know Seakeeper nor Interceptors it don't really matter what brand is installed.
New boat prices rocketed to stellar prices and one reason is that builder include more and more expensive gadgets not everyone wants and needs, but thats probably because here boats are usually sold bare and new owner chooses what to install, including outboard brand.
Some boats come as a Package Deal with factory installed outboards, but in this case there is a substantial discount over buying bare boat and engines and have them rigged.
Other countries, other habits...
