G'day guys.

I have a 2001 228 with a 200HP Yammie HPDI.

At lower speeds, the wake seems to rise off the pod and against the upper end of the leg of the outboard (just below the cover) - rooster tailing so to speak.

Is this normal for a 228?

Cheers

That doesn't happen with my 228. Do you have it trimmed properly? I would also check the transducer to make sure that isn't kicking up the water.

Thanks Strikezone. I'll check the trim again, but I'm pretty sure it was OK. Also, the rooster tailing occurs on both the port and starboard side, so I don't think it is the transducer.

I will take some photos this weekend and post for further investigation!

Mine does this at lower speeds and trimming helps as well using the tabs. We have a thru-hull ducer so it is not that. I have observed it is in that middle speed about 15-20 mph where it occurs the most. I will experiment next time on the water with trim of the motor to see where it is reduced.

My 2001 228 with same power does the same thing, trimming correctly does help.
