25 Trophy twin 150's GPS numbers:

Hello all...I finally finished up a 3 year restoration on my 25 TrophyPro and splashed her about a month ago. (If time permits I will start a thread on the restoration.) However I did want to know the performance with the 150's. I have read that the boat is underpowered with only 150's but I got a great deal and could not pass them up. So with that said:

1983 TrophyPro, 2 people totaling 445 pounds, approximately 75 gallons of gas, dead calm…and 15 coats of bottom paint +/-!!! The motors are 1992 Yamaha 150's with approximately 1100 hours spinning 17P props.

2400 = 18mph

2800 = 23mph

3200 = 27mph

3600 = 30mph

4000 = 34mph

4500 = 37mph

5000 = 41mph

I know there is more rpm to be had by reworking the props, but not a priority. I do plan on gettting the bottom soda blasted; it is Ugly!!!

If I didn't get such a great deal on these motors with rigging etc.. I would have gone 225's. The transom is brand new and better than when it left the factory! I figure I will run the 150's until they die, unless I find a better deal!

I like the boat without the stripe too!

Those #'s look impressive for 150's. One of the nicest 83's I've seen!

Not bad #'s for 150's. You have less weight to move around than the 90's versions (not that much but it seems to make a difference). Why would you want to go more than 200's?

Thanks for the kind words! I strive for the minimalist, less is more, approach, which ususally results in a clean looking product.

I was hoping for better speed numbers as I stripped her of almost everything, leaving only bare necessities. I think after I blast the bottom the numbers should bump up a bit. And I know those motors should rev at least 500 rpm more...which will also increase the top end. My cruise is 3600 at 30mph, very comfortable...and quiet.

My goal is to have a comfortable 40mph cruising speed, which is why I figured if I was going to move up to 200's why not just go to 225's. I even saw a Sailfish with twin 250's!

But as I said I will run these until they don't run anymore!

40mph is a lofty goal to cruise with that boat all day unless you steal the gas. :lol:

I took off the stripe last year also and had the new ones ready to go but said na I lke it better this way.

My buddy actually ducked into the cabin for the "ghost" shot.

Rumble- I did buy updated stripes to match the new logo, but after I stripped the hullsides I liked it much better without them.
