Hi guys,

Starting to make some real progress on this new to me 265. I'll post a summary one day, it's been fun so far. Now, we're looking at removing the factory clear doors on the lower electronics area and replacing with some black starboard, acrylic , etc.
Anybody done this on a 265? I'm hoping maybe some one has the dimensions of the rough opening in digital form that I can e-mail to my fabricator
TIA,
SeaVee

I opted not to go that route with mine because I really like that cubby space for phones, glasses, potato chips, and anything you want to set down and not end up on the deck when you are running.
But, I put a second FF/GPS up top and I really don't like it there, so I might reconsider.
I've done a flush dash panel on another boat. Its pretty simple with starboard, a table saw, and a router.
Make a template from cardboard. Don't forget to make your cutouts clear the opening.

Please post pix. I'm interested in how it turns out.

I will SB, in the meantime I shamelessly copied your rear hatch idea. Found some closeout Gemlux hardware for 19/each:

i flush mounted mine with some lexan i had In my garage. 10x better that what it was in the cubby. I just used some cardboard and ruff dimensions. I didnt want to go crazy perfecting it until the offseason, but I'm happy with how it came out. Wasn't hard. I also bought some stainless security screws to mount it to give me more piece of mind. In the winter i plan on vinyl wrapping it and beveling the edge. Also plan on flush mounting my VHF and putting another screen i have up on the port side electronic box

I am drawing a complete blank, but when I flush mounted my first set of electronics on my 265, I'm pretty sure that I just used the plastic doors as the template once i removed them. Traced them onto cardboard, fine tuned it and then replicated onto starboard. I can't swear I did this on the 265, maybe it was on an older, boat, but I'm pretty sure it was on the 265. Second time around this winter, the electronics were much bigger (i had to shave the opening itself) so i just went with starboard right over the opening and did not come out bad at all.

I've done this twice now- when I bought the boat in '11 and used a Raymarine C120W w/ a Dragonfly. Had a piece of Starboard that matches the Grady color made by FinAddict in NC- they have the right color Starboard. I removed the plexi doors and put the Starboard over the opening and flush mounted the electronics.
Last year, I changed to twin 12" Axiom units and had another piece made by FinAddict. The piece is 29.4" x 10.625. I changed it up a bit this time but it's quite similar. I made a template out of 1/4 plywood that I sent to FinAddict. They still have an electronic drawing of it if you would like them to make it for you.
I can get you more details and pics if you want- let me know.

I used the plexiglass doors as a template for a hinged starboard panel... Left side has a flush HDS-9 Touch, and the right side is reserved for another HDS-9 when I get the cash... inside the dash, I have a SonicHub and a subwoofer and amplifier... Works perfectly...
