I am collecting arguments to pull the trigger to get the 2008 306 Bimini with 2008 F350.
As known the F350 is not really a sturdy and reliable outboard so I consider to sell directly the 350's and install new twins.
I got the quotes for BF350, DF350 and DF300 today and have to take a decision what I would install.
Twin DF350 @ 63'360 1454 lbs
Twin BF350 @ 58'700 1530 lbs
Twin DF300APX @ 42'500 1318 lbs
All 3 all necessary included but without rigging
At parity of cost I would like to get the Honda BF350 as I guess it would be the best engine for the 306 Bimini/Canyon and give me best fuel efficiency around 3500 rpm @ 28 knots, but 16K more than twin DF300APX is a step difference and a would be a lot of fuel to burn to break even.
The DF350 would be awesome as well, but the price is most expensive and I believe that the BF350 give better numbers and would be 5K cheaper.
However,
did someone changed from F350 to F300 or DF300 and noticed that the lower unit will not touch water anymore if tilted up due the lower weight of the twins?
As the Bimini came with 700 HP max and the 1600 lbs of the F350, weight on the transom should bot be a concern, but what I have to check if the BF350 is higher (al test it looks higher) and will not tilt up completely as cowling will hit the transom above the splash well and lower units will stay even more in the water.
My boats are all wet slipped near around and I would prefer to have no part of the lower unit touching water, if that is possible.
Thanks so much!
Chris
