If you have a 330 with F300s, what is your average cruise speed (RPM) and fuel burn. As my previous post, I'm looking at replacing my F250s with 300s and I'm curious what the real-world performance numbers are. We fish offshore and usually have full tanks (fuel, water, diesel) and 3-5 big guys on board.

With the F250's, average cruise at 4800 RPMs is 28-30 MPH burning about the same. Top speed is 5300 RPMs burning zillions of gallons per hour.

I recently re-powered with two F300's on a 2004 330 Express. I cruise at 29-30 MPH at 4400 RPM, burning 1 to 1.1 GPH. At WOT, top speed fully loaded is 42-43, MPH. This usually with two persons on board, but loaded to the hilt with fishing and cruising gear. Hope this helps.

Thanks! What engines did you have before (225 or 250s) and did you notice a big improvement? What prompted the repower?

We had 225's when we bought the boat. The 300's made a huge difference, added about 6 MPH at cruise for the same or better fuel economy. The 225's were OK, but we wanted more power.

Have a 07 330 was thinking of upgrading to 300's but what I found out was not much gain on top just low and minimal at that. I was going to wait for 350's to improve but who knows how long. A friend that has a family member who owns a yamaha dealer told me stay away from v8 if I was going to get 300's make sure they are 6's. I am going to sell and go 36 with trip's. I also have several people with grady white at my marina and many going to suzuki 300's with lots of positive feedback they all say the same thing they love them but they are all 28-30ft.

Thanks. Just asked you something on different thred. I am getting the same feeling about upgrading. It would be hard to justify based on little improvement. At some point, I will probably move up to 36 but I'm hoping the will come out with more efficient engines.
