61 Runabout- lap straight repair-

Probably the single most unique Grady of all time. - 61 Lap straight wooden hull - total 1994 renovation- lap straight repair- Small spot between the Rib has separated - has anyone here got any experience repairing this?

Not to be picky, but it is actually called lapstrake or clinker built. If you look that up you will see how it is constructed and maybe can help you with the repair. If it is truly a wooden boat there will be caulking issues as well. I am not familiar with the construction of the early lapstrake Grady-White. Wooden planked boats in the 60s were caulked between the planks with something called Oakum . Oakum is a rope like caulking that would swell when wet and boats that had been dry for long periods of time would often leak significantly when first put back in the water.

Man that is a great looking Grady. The strakes were steam bent and fastened to the ribs starting at the forefoot and working your way aft. Next strake would overlap the bottom one by about an inch as you worked your way to the gunnel.
If you have a strake that has pulled away from a rib, find the bung that is over the screw and dig it out. Try to tighten the screw.
I am not a wooden boat expert.....
and I did not stay at a Holiday Inn.

I see pine trees, not palm trees, in your photographs, which look more like the Carolinas than Florida. North Carolina is home to many wooden boat builders. What is your actual location?
There was nothing special, or unique, about Grady White‘s boat building technique, so don’t let the name limit your resources. By all means, ask your questions, and keep us up-to-date on your progress here, but I would be looking for wooden boat building forums to get a wider range of professional opinions.
My first two Grady‘s were lapstrake, but they were fiberglass, early 70s models. GW started in 1959, so that truly is a vintage model. Their customer service(252-752-2111) is very helpful about providing building info, but I doubt their records go back that far, although they might take a special interest in helping with such a nicely preserved '61.
