99 Tournament 192 battery size

Hi,

I have a 99 Tournament 192 which I purchased used. I have 2 batteries under the jump seat in their battery boxes. They are not the right size as I have a very hard time getting the covers on and putting them back under the seat. Does anyone know the correct size batteries for this boat?

Bob,

Mine came with a group 24 battery. It was (is) in a tray and not a full box with a top, and half of the battery was under the fiberglass and half out in the open. It is out next to the hull rather than in near the bilge. I have thought of putting the battery in a box but I have found no need to do so. You can wrap the terminals with tape, a bike inner tube, etc. to guard against an inadvertent short.

I replaced the battery with a Cabelas group 27 AGM. It is a nice battery, but I wish I had stayed with the 24 as I can see no advantage to the 27 with my relatively light electrical load.
