Just bought a 2002 Voyager 248. The plastic hinges on the helm mounted electronics box are broken. Instead of replacing with another plastic pair from Grady that will probably break again after UV exposure....I was thinking of replacing with stainless.

Anyone do this already? Manufacturer and model # suggestions? Pictures?

Thanks.

Make sure the metal from the hinge and screws are similar or the same or they will likely rust. I think this is part of the reason Grady did not use them, I'm sure a local marine store will carry a very similar hinge, if not identical in metal. Mine on my 2002 265 Express squeak from time to time but still are in good shape, just need some oil. Let us know what you change to if you find something, otherwise think about replacing it with similar hinge from a marine store, most Grady parts on newer boats can be bought at a west marine or similar store.

plastic hinges problem here too

Was out cleaning the Marlin this afternoon and the black plastic hinges on the box in front of the steering wheel broke.. anybody found something better? I dont even like the door, as it obstructs my view when I am driving. I might re-design that hole now that I have the entire door off.

Before GW offered the flush mount kit in 2004, some folks did custom flushmounts using starboard. That would be my recommendation. I have seen pix of some very nice setups.

Flush mount kit in 2004?

This sounds like an add on? I am not the handiest boat owner in the world, so if I can buy a flsuh mount kit that would be awesome. I will check with my dealership tomorrow. I had to go buy the plastic hinges (they are special spring loaded hinges) at our local grady dealer till I can figure out a better way to deal with this. my marlin is a 2000
