We pesently have the 305 Express which we love. In a few years we plan to move up in size and would like something larger than what Grady presently offers.

Does anyone know if a larger Express is in the future plans for Grady White?

Thanks!

A 405 Express w/trip 350s is on my Christmas list for the year 2015. I think it's just that, however. Wishful thinking

The last word I have heard is they will build as large as outboard engine technology and customer demand makes feasible. My guess we will see a larger model at some point. In the short term logic would dictate a larger dual console given the recent trend of adding this style on existing hulls.

275 307 337? 367?

These family friendly models gave been very good sellers in recent years.

larger GW's

Intrepid and multiple others have really saturated the larger market for now, I would be surprised if GW went for a 40-42 ft boat in the near term. IMHO, there is a sizeable difference in larger GW models vs the competition, as theirs are generally similar length, more narrow beam, lighter, faster but have similar mileage and costs.

If you do the research, I'm not sure what the value prop is anymore between a 40' outboard express that costs upwards of $500K but has similar operating cost characteristics to an inboard version costing $800K. There are lots of pros - cons and I am on the outboard side of things, certainly GW's side, but if I am going to spend that type of $$ I want something besides just a fishing platform.

I love to cruise in our 360 but understand paying for the inside AC'd mass of an inboard express, the ability to see out around the boat and enjoy cruising and anchoring up vs just be in "a cave", which is what OB boats give you. Sure, you can AC the helm but is that similar to being in the salon of an inboard boat? No.

For my $$, when GW builds a 40' something quad Yamaha 350-400 powered express that has a salon like a Cabo / Bertram that will let you also cruise on it in comfort, gets at least .6-.7 mpg at cruise and keeps the price under $600K, lets talk. Until then, my 360 and I will do the best we can.

BTW, I know GW monitors this board so if you want to talk about ideas, feel free to reach out... LOL.....

Steve,

Cabos were my dream big boat years ago but several things changed since then.

o economy
o deciding to stay dry vs. wet slip
o cost structure of in water vs. slip
o Brunswick sale
o large outboards

If I ever go larger then the 300 which isn't likely for most of above reasons, I would have to really think about the diesel express vs. outboard. While this was laughable years back - GW, Pursuit, Scout, BW have proven outboards are viable to 30'-40' boats. The space savings, quiet, lack of fumes, are all family friendly.

While I love the looks of a twin diesel, I am spoiled by 4 strokes. My wife would HATE diesels and rarely step foot on such a boat. Times change and a 360 or larger would be a serious consideration if I was in the market. Reality dicates a new Marlin at current prices is much more likely.

One can always dream however. :)

agree

The TWO huge things that we always contend with are economy, trying to stay above .5 mpg, and living conditions on board. The GW line up is tops - bar none - for fishing, and except for a few things like larger fish boxes I could not ask for better.

When we cruise however, or the ladies go out 50-60 miles offshore with us, the seas rise, the weight and salon configurations of the big diesels take over as far preferable. A GW is a cork, nothing else to describe it, and in 5-6 footers or larger (not those silly conditions that people claim to be big seas, but real ones.....) a big heavy boat is often an asset. Yeah, lots of folks claim to run back at 30-40+ kts in 4-6 ft seas and being dead steady; and those of us that go out on the water all know they are full of BS and have no credibility at all for their silly claims.

It's that balance between fishing and life when you are not fishing, either at the dock or just riding, but able to see outside, move around and live in our floating RV's.

When GW can produce something new that balances those two paradygms, I will consider trading my 360, but until then, you and I will just have to fish and enjoy the awesome boats we already own!!

I will be very happy with my 426 outfitted with a pair of Yammies 500 in 3-4 years. I already start saving.

NY to Greenville, are you listening?

Been there, done that(on the diesel thing). Nice boats inboard diesels, BUT, as Mega said, my wife was getting sick from the smell and she never really liked the noise(too loud).

Nothing Else, I agree with you and Mega 150%, as I have consistently for years and years......

I love GW and I love outboards, I only hope that GW in the future can look to Intrepid and others and figure out how to blend some new features in their large express models (other than the butt ugly 360 fixed glass of course......) that give us more function than today.

Also, not that its not in ALL of our faces, but with the NMFS and others constantly taking away fishing rights, and with very little we can do to fight it, if there is ANY justification for spending a half million dollars on a boat it has to have appeal besides just fishing. Are you listening GW? BTW, I am NOT referring to dual console models.....

As far as the NMFS BS, we can always catch and release or even troll for................. stingrays
I agree with you and i really understand where you coming from. They(GW) have to change their mentality a little on their bigger boats and add those features to make them more appealing.

I doubt an outboard model of similar size will ever duplicate the low center of gravity offered by twin diesels (not that I have owned one).
It is all about tradeoffs. For the record, there is still no better looking boat than a 40'-50' sport fisherman with tower. But there is this 1Mil+ price tag
