After a considerable amount of work on the boat since buying it a few months ago, today I took the 228 out for the first time for a trial spin. Immediately I was struck by how much I hated the bow pulpit rail obscuring visibility of what was ahead of me. It wasn’t until I got home and was staring at it that I realized for the first time that the rail is bent upwards almost 90 degrees and shouldn’t be. I started laughing. It is bent so perfectly that it fooled my eye into thinking it was designed this way.
Since the bow pulpit was sheared off at the end when I bought it, it now makes even more sense to get rid of it and this bent rail. Hoping someone call also tell me, is the railing in sections between stanchions? I am hoping I can just replace the bow pull railing with two pieces and a joiner. I appreciate any leads on sourcing parts. Thanks much.
