Looking to buy a 2005 330. Does anyone have experience with Balsa in the sides or Marine plywood rotting in the transom? Or any other wood in the boat?

Thanks

I believe the boat has balsa coring on the sides, XL green (PT or like PT) wood in transom and composite stringers. Like all wooden boats, need to check via survey.

I think there was a post a while back about a newish express with 'soft' hull sides where the core had rotted. In that thread, it was stated that the hull uses end grain balsa. The lower area of the hull below thewater line was solid and not cored but from about a foot up to the rub rail was.

yes, and if compromised it will get wet and turn to mush. i believe the intrusion occurred through the blower vents and water somehow got into the coring. GW cored their larger beam boats ( I think 30 and up).
