I just took over a GW Marlin 300 and am confused about the 8D battery that is on the port side. It must have been an addition, because it is NOT shown in the wiring diagram. I thought it was for the house supply; however, when I disconnected it everything worked as before..........Anybody familiar with this?? Is it strictly for the inverter to draw from???

What year Marlin and how many batteries total?

Marlins have 4 batteries as far as I know. Two house batteries and one one for each engine. Are you saying you have 5 batteries or that one of the house batteries has been replaced with an 8D?

On all of the Grady Marlins I have been on there were always four batteries, most of the time they were group 27. I suspect the group 8D battery on your boat was added for powering DC accesories while anchored. Based on some of the diesel powered boats I have been on I assume the 8D battery packs a lot of punch. Not sure how they would be wired.

By the way, welcome to the website.

My 01 Marlin has 4 batteries. The port side batterries are dedicated for the house,,,My house batteries operate off of their own switch located portside. Hope this helps

I think I have a faulty charger as well........anybody have any recommendations for a new one?
