Hi. I am planning on buying a Gulfstream from a private seller in Virginia Beach and need to transport it to Connecticut. The boat is not on a trailer. Any suggestions and ideas on cost would be most appreciated.

Many Thanks.

Greg

No idea cost of transporting but I'm sure someone will know, BUT if it were me I would plan an ICW trip if you would be comfortable doing so. This time of year would be a lot of fun.

2 months ago I had a Gulfstream transported from Virginia to Seattle. The cost became very reasonable because they had another boat that was making the trip across the country as well and we organized a backload from Seattle back to the East coast. My method of finding the eventual shipper was UShip.com. I was very happy with the process and cost.

Take the trip

I'd take the boat up my self...........the weather is good and it would be alot cheaper.......plus a great way to learn your boat.

Look on the internet for U ship.com. Place a seven day posting following their guidelines and you should receive multiple replies.

We did the same thing you are now planning.

Greg,

My Sportsman 180 is being delivered in CA tomorrow after being transported from NC. I found my hauler on UShip, however, I sorted through a lot of flakes and found no shortage of people and articles recommending extreme caution in using the site.

We Haul Boats (352-302-8140), specifically Sam Anderson, is who I contracted with. He was very responsive, easy to work with, and reasonably priced. He saved my bacon on pickup day because of a hitch on the part of the marine dealer who had the boat. He went above and beyond and never said a word about it. The marine dealer contacted me to fill me in on his efforts. I will be happy to share my experience with you further if you like. I hope I never have to do it again but if I ship a boat he'll be the one hauling it. Good luck.
