i was just wondering if anyone is running the new 150 3.0 litter 4 stroke from mer. on the back of their 20 ft. grady

No....only because its brandnew...I repowered a 1996 Adventure with a 200 Optimax. however I think this new motor should work great on older boats because its light.

I can't help but think that either will be underpowered with a 150. I'm about to repower my 208 with the Yamaha 200 i4 4 stroke. It will be replacing a ymaha 225 2 stroke salt water and a 9.9hp yamaha kicker and will weigh less than that combo.

I met a guy last year who put the 2011 150hp verado on his 87 204c after they redid his transom. He said he was happy with it. Bragged about the fuel economy mostly. When he put it in the water the scuppers were completely submerged. Looks like the 150 4s is 455lbs. (515lbs) for the verado class Might be worth taking a look into that model for my repower next year.
