Hi all,

I took the cushions out of my (new to me) Adventure today, and noticed how old and dingy they're looking. Doesn't look like the fabric is meant to come off, so what's the best way to scrub these? Just soap and water, then leave them out to dry in the sun?

Thanks!

p.s The fabric feels porous and is perhaps made of cotton? The cushions inside feel firm and crunchy.

Can the covering be zipped off? If so throw the covers in the wash cold water with Oxyclean then reinstall over the foam and air dry.
The cushions in my Overnighter are vinyl covered but the rest of the cabin is completely carpeted which was dingy and moldy when I got it home. I used our Bissell carpet machines hand held attachment with a mix of rug doctor carpet cleaner and Oxyclean and the cabin came up like brand new. Quickly too. I wouldn't hesitate to use the Bissell handheld attachment on the cushions either.
That proved to be the best use for the Bissell as I thought the rental machines do a better job on our homes carpets.
The hand attachment works well for spot cleaning, furniture, and cars too but it worked so well on the boat I'd keep it for that reason alone.
I am also a believer in Oxyclean for fabrics. Removes stains and mold without bleaching the color out.

Great, thanks Lt. Mike. No, they don't zip off, so I'll take your advice and try to get my hands on a carpet cleaner.

If you can borrow a bissell with the hand attachment and mix a little Oxyclean with the regular rugdoctor concentrate I think you will be happy with the results.

I have cleaned mine several times.
The approach I have is to mist some upholstery cleaner spray on the cloth, rub it in, then do a quick spray rinse with water hose. I allow them to drip dry on a 5 gallon bucket with fans blowing on them in the garage, rotating occassionally. In a couple of days, they are dry and very nice and clean. You can feel the difference and they are just like new!

Just did them last weekend as I realized that last rough 2 hour ride home sent a lot of salt spray down in the cabin and the cloth had that tacky feel to it. Now they feel like a new sheet on the bed!
