I tried the Maguire 1,2,3 clean, polish and wax system on a small section of my 1985 tournament 190. The color looked a bit yellow or off whiteish afterward. Then I read in an older post that the normal Grady Color is slightly yellow. Is that true ? I was not sure if it was working or not. If it is supposed to be a bit yellow or off-white, I`ll continue.

Let me know
thanks

Tom

It's definately an off-white. I'd keep going and let us know how the Maguires works.

White was the founders name, not necessarily the hull color. What you are removing is 23 years of oxidation. Buffed out my buddies Hydra-Sports and he thought I was removing the gel-coat. "Thats your original color, Dude".

I have an '83 and it is an off white shade but not as much towards yellow or cream as the newer Gradys are. I am not sure when the shade changed. Yours should be the same off white as mine, A friend bought a new Sailfish in '87 the same year as I purchased mine used and they were the same color so the color changed sometime after that. In short you won't be able to get it white.

Thanks for all of the help. I will continue with the Maguires. I`ll let you know how it turns out. I plan to pick up a buffer for the project. Won`t be for a few weeks since I have to go out of town

Thanks

Tom
