Clogged Helm Drain

Hello, this is my first post and I would be great full for any input. I have a 1998 225 tournament. In cleaning not up to get ready to launch for season i noticed a the port side he drain was clogged somewhere in line. Marina I am at for winter storage blew air up from he port drain. Bubbles came up to top but still remains clogged.

anyone know if I have to take apart? Does the drain unscrew?

i apologize for the typos, did this on my phone. Basically, the drain pictured above is draining very slowly.

Funny my port side drain clogs too.

I think you can get to the back of it from the inspection port. Bring a flashlight and your contortionist moves.

You might also try a plumbers snake and see if you can push through whatever is clogging it.

Thank you. The marina I am at might try using a pressure washer to try flushing out what is in there.

Try flushing it from the outside ( through hull) . I find that a garden hose with a straight nozzle works well. Flushing from the deck just jams the clog in further.

sometimes a cap from a water bottle or debris falls in is. It may be best to run a snake through it from the hull side.

This should be easy to unclog - it's close to a straight shot through the side of the boat. Tip... if you flush it from the outside... have someone loosely hold a towel over the drain hole. If there's something gunky in there it will save you from having to clean it up! Or... DON'T say anything to the person that you have on the inside of the boat watching the "hole".... But you really need to video that so we can watch...
