Anybody have any other modification to secure the combing bolster pads to the gunwales other than these annoying t-nuts? Thanks and Happy New Years to everyone here.

Most use SS brackets on gunnels and holes in the bolster backing. they just press down.

White Water 50301S-316 Marine 316 Stainless Steel Upholstery Clip .... look on amazon

Thank you, was wondering what I was seeing in posts with holes cutout of the bolsters. Will look into this.

The stainless clips work really well. On my boat that i trailer, i also added a small tab with single snap along the bottom to keep the bolsters in place at highway speeds. Two tabs per section does the trick. I can snap picture if needed. Good luck!

Thank you, a pic would be great, but I am pretty sure all I have to do is make 2 holes, about 2" diameter and then align them to the gunwales.

Also, should someone be reading this and wants the pleated marine vinyl, I just bought 6 yards at $2.99 yd. I can send you the website from where I bought it, they have 11 yards left.

You got it. 2” holes in backing board for bolster to hang on. On the boat that I trailer I also added snaps at the bottom of coaming pad to prevent bolster from lifting off clips at highway speeds (70 MPH). Snaps are not needed in normal situations.

I removed my cockpit bolsters entirely. I got tired of watching them deteriorate in the sun. Re-surfaced them and thought there has to be a better way. So, I patched and sanded the many screw holes for the SS Clips and did a color matched gel coat skin over each hole. Machine Wet sanded everything. Can hardly tell the bolsters were ever there now. Never looked back and I don't miss them one bit. Kinda looks like a Viking cockpit now. Just saying..
