correct props for 1988 sailfish 255 w/ 200 hp yamaha HPDIs ?

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the correct propeller diameter and pitch would be for a 1988 Sailfish 255 with twin Yamaha 200hp HPDIs.
Someone out there must have some experience with this setup. I would prefer to avoid the trial and error method as life seems to have enough trials and I've already made plenty of error.
Help is greatly appreciated.[/b]
 
15 1/4 diameter 17" pitch...I am speeking from experience this should get you to about 5500 rpms at WOT.

I have 19" pitch mirage props right now and get get only 5000 rmps at WOT. I plan on swaping them out for 17" in the future. Too many things on the list for this season already. On my previous rig I had a single 200 hpdi and went from 19 to 17 and gained about 400 rpms and had much improved performance all around. Lost about 1 mph off the top but who cares...
 
I repowered by 1992 252 G with Yam 200 HPDI's. Yamaha SS II 17" props turned 5500-5600 RPM in salt water with full bottom paint, full load of fuel.

With full load of 5 people, full fuel, 250# ice and full gear it would still turn 5300-5400 RPM's. The original 200's were also 17's.
 
Thanks HaleNalu. Do you know what speed at cruise and WOT and what kind of fuel burn you get? Looks like we are trending toward 17" pitch .
 
I had the M17's on my twin HPDI Yamaha 200 And they were great. Topped out at 5800 smooth and fast!
 
I had a 265 with 200 hpdi's, similar hull as far as weight/beam goes. I ran 15 1/4 x 17's and turned 5800 rpm trimmed out with a good load and the boat ran mint. I believe i used to get about 1.7 mpg in the bay and about 1.5 mpg running offshore.
 
19s may get you more speed on the lighter pre 1990 hulls, I have 17s since it's all about hole shot for me, boils the water right up with the 12 pistons kicking 400 ponnies into a frenzy on hammer drop.

Is it spring yet?

Yep thats what I had on my HPDI 200 and she ran great.
