Covering Dash Cutouts

I have a hole in my dash where an old stereo remote is located. Was thinking about taking it out but not sure how to cover up the hole. Any interesting ideas?
 
Small piece of starboard glued on. I have a similar hole and looks fine.
 
If you went with the fusion wireless remote you could mount it on a piece of circular starboard that covers a hole with Velcro as a place to put your wireless remote.
 
I would look for an instrument with the same cutout size—tide clock, thermometer, barometer, etc

We always screw the starboard in. Counter sink the holes so the screws are flush. Easy to come off if you want to mount something in the future.starboard mount.png
 
FYI I used some Carbon fiber (4mm) to cover radio home because opening was a mess.

Starboard doesn't glue well. Best answer is oversize patch on top, an insert to fill the old hole and a backing plate all with starboard (Seafoam green). Whatever you are mounting use the screws to go all the way thru. You can use 4200 to hold everything in place and screw together.

If you really need perfection then re-glass the hole.
 
I like the plastic piece screwed with SS hardware. It's easy, no glue mess or fear of falling off. Then you can put anything you want in the spot.
