looking to purchase or have upholstered cushions made.
Any owners have any info?

Are these the cabin or cockpit cushions? Where are you located?
 
There is a guy in Hull and Winthrop that does them as well as B21 in Rockland. Fabric Warehouse has the vinyl, sail thread and other stuff if you want to attempt yourself. I got the rest (foam, ss staples, re-used zippers etc) off Amazon. A
 
I did my white upholstry a while back. I'll post a link.
I'm going to do the interior cushions this year. I got some marine fabric from Joanne Fabrics for about $16 a yard. I measured what I need approx 6 yards. My plan is to use the backsides of the existing cushion set. They are black mesh like material and the zippers are on them. This saves a lot of work. I'll use a seam ripper and disassemble each cushion to use as a pattern. I'll sew the sides inside out to the top piece and then the bottom piece to sides. Flip the fabric inside out thru the zipper and then either re-use or buy 4" dense foam off Amazon. I think I can re-use the existing foam if so, this should be fairly quick.
I am going to take the (3) white vinyl pieces that go over the hatch and the to the sides of the hatch as well as the two that go on the livewell and rigging station to Bld 21 in Rockland and get a price. Probably will spring to have these made up. I'll start a thread when I do this and keep you in the loop.
 

Bolster and Seat Recover

I decided to tackle this job over the winter. So before putting away for the season, I removed the (6) piece bolster set, the aft seat and the companion seat from my 300 Marlin. Not doing this type of work before, I read up on it on this site as well as sailrite and youtube. This thread will...

we have been doing a ton of work to my Grady still trying to finish up lots of electrical work.
i thought about doing the cushions etc Might be a good winter project

Yes, I did. Same with grommets, you gotta test them in the environment before using.

Bldg 21 did work for several GW dealers in the past. I've used them as well. Quality work.
 
affordableboatcushions.com did mine for my 1993 22' tournament. They came out great and were well below the cost of typical upholstery places. And frankly a lot easier to deal with.

They have cushion templates for most boats, and I actually sent them my expired bow cushions with which they created a template to help others moving forward.

WAY faster turn around time that small shops you find everywhere else and more professional.

And Yes, I've had a number of bad experiences at upholstery shops. Those folks seem to be able to name their prices due to the general tediousness of doing that line of work, along with the overwhelming demand for their services couples with a very small amount of folks who offer those services.....
