I have 2006 Marlin, New Owner. looking to drain fresh water. #1Can i drain fresh water without turning on water pump? #2 How do I drain water from water heator or will that drain automatically if I leave hot water faucet open. thx for help.

I have a 2006 Express, so this is not specific to your model, but I believe the answer is probably the same. The water heater has a drain on the bottom, below the inlet and outlet (looks like a hose faucet). By opening that, it should drain. I don't believe there is a drain for the water tank and if there was, I wouldn't know how to get to it. I drain the system by running the water til it runs out. To get the system up and running in the spring is the hardest part since there is always some residual non-toxic antifreeze left. I constantly put in some water and run til "empty" trying to get as much out as possible. Then fill tank with some bleach and run thought all hoses to clean entire system, then run til empty a couple times to try and get all of that out. Even with all of that, I still don't drink the water.
Like the previous poster said, there is a drain on the hw heater. If treated with "pink" stuff it may have been bypassed. You will need to reconnect the by pass. You may be able to drain the tank by disconnected the tank side of the pump. Not a bad idea anyways as you can check the filter for gunk. Gravity may drain the tank but its gonna end up in your bilge. Good luck.

However, for winter prep, after you pump the tank down until the pump loses suction, just add three big bottles of cheap vodka. Run the pump to get the mix to all the faucets and you are good for the winter. Live were it's really cold? - add more vodka.
Spring time, just refill the tank to dilute. Or pump the mix out first, if you prefer.

Flip on your water pump, then go fully open all three sink faucets. Flip switch off when the faucets start spitting. Add a cup of bleach to the tank and fill up with fresh water. This will stir the bleach around. Rinse and repeat as you wish.
Always run your Sump Pump when showering or when the AC is on.
Get a few buddies to grab a beer and go stand as far foward on the bow as you can. You should soon hear the FWD Bilge Pump kick on and run. This will nearly empty the FWD Bilge area below the cabin floor. There will almost always be some standing water down there. If the pump does not come on, check the float switch on the FWD Bilge Pump below the cabin floor. Pop open the round access panel in the floor or if need be, unscrew and lift up the floor panel.

On a sailfish, the water heater is forward. Not sure about a marlin. On my 330 it is behind a panel to right of helm.
I believe the water heater is behind the fishboxes under the captains helm seat (Under the tackle station/sink). Take out the fish boxes and then remove the screws on the outside. You may need a razor to cut through the caulk. The box will come right out. The water heater is located here. I also store all my spare parts i.e.... water pumps fuel filters, bilge pumps for future repair down here.
