Electric fuel primers?

Correct me if I am wrong, but these appear to be electric fuel primers. Seems silly to replace them as I never use them, but if I wanted to...anyone have a link to new replacements?

I know I can just remove them and not have them, but I have not ordered new fuel line yet so leaving them on till next month at least and, if they are easy to replace, I’ll go ahead and do so later, but not top of my list atm.

Haven't seen electric fuel pumps like those before. Could they be fuel flow sensors?

Possibly, but too corroded on the outside to tell. They are not worn or such, just a lot of buildup on the outside. May take them off and soak them in solvent to see if I can clean them up a bit, without hurting the electronics. They do not appear to be damaged, just "crusty"...if that makes sense.

Okay, it is a yamaha fuel flow sensor. I assume for a yamaha gauge. This must "feed" the digital gauges on the dash. Not sure where, but could be what is causing alarms on both engines. Will see what I can locate for a replacement.

I think I will leave them the heck alone.....

If you follow the wires they will probably go into a Yamaha multi-hub somewhere near. If you unplug them from the multi-hub you will lose the function, but the alarm should cease if they are the cause. I now see those plugs are standard Yamaha. type. Flow meters may be fine and I doubt they can cause an alarm.

Nod...will test it later. Don’t want to disconnect them, just see if they are the issue. After the new separators are in, may solve the problem if they are it anyway.

Did they have water or other contaminates in them when you removed them and poured out the contents?

Didn’t make it that far. I removed them from the mounting, I did not remove the filters yet. I was working on making sure the new mounts would fit and getting all the new fittings set up.

Then one was broken....so took them back to Academy.

Debating removing the current mounts, cleaning them up and then ordering two Yamaha oem separators to arrive tomorrow from amazon, and then order the stainless ones to replace those.

So, nothing to see yet.

Not going to remove the filters till I decide if I want to reuse the current mounts after I put them under a wire wheel.....after soaking them..

And don’t need to debate how long they will lst, they lasted. 16 years, I think there is another 3-4 months of life in them if I just clean them and add a new filter till this fall.

And those fancy schmancy see through bottoms are junk imo...plastic valves and they do not seat well. Very weak design.

I’ve never had a problem with racor clear bottoms. The cheaper brands are junk. They do leak all the time. Just don’t tighten the pet cock tight. The Little o ring swells in gas so if you crank it hard, it swells too tight and messes up the o ring when you go to drain it next time. I have been using the same see thru glass for 8 years and just changing the 30$ cartridge once a year.

I have heard nothing but good things about them, I just seem to have gotten a bad one. Add that to the fact I got the non-stainless and the 60gph vs the taller ones and the fact it broke before I could even install it, just led me to take it back. Had they had mounts without filters, I would have grabbed a couple nice filters, but all that after getting set up, I just said to heck with it.

I can order a filter and have it next day, but I want to swap the mounts as well since they look horrible. If I cannot get the mounts till next week, then may as well wait till the end of the month and order stainless. I spent my allocation this month so not going to incur more costs till next month.

So, cannot drain the oil since the plug gaskets will not be here till next week, so everything is on hold till then I guess.

Will work on the shop or something else.

The racor b32013 filter spins on the same mount as a Yamaha oem. It is cheaper to get a new filter head aftermarket and spin on the racor element. The Yamaha elements down here in fla last about 6 months and start rusting. I’ve seen racors last 2 years in the same environment before they show rust. Sierra ones are done in a year.

Okay, I actually ordered the Marpac filters. Why? Because the price I got was 56 bucks each with stainless heads.

I could not locate anything remotely close to that price. I tried to factor in using the standard aluminum head but with shipping etc, even if I went with aluminum for a year then swapped them out wit stainless, I could not beat the price of 56 bucks and free shipping.

So, I have two stainless steel heads with Marpac filters inc by no later than Thursday, so I can get back on track. After that, the world is my oyster and I can use whichever filter I want.

Going to lowes to get replacement brass hosefittings too, unless I can locate stainless ones of those too heh.
As for the flow sensors, will leave them alone, but clean up the outside.
