Folks,
I thought that I would share with you my experience and information regarding finding electrical connectors for my 2001 282.
Background: I am in the process of upgrading my nav and cockpit lights and, as most of you may know, Grady has used electrical connectors for all the lighting and pumps throughout the boat. Why? Presumably to help facilitate change outs like these. That way, we don't have to keep cutting the harnesses back and reterminate the wiring. If you have tried to gain access to the wiring through the anchor locker, you would agree that every inch of wiring helps!
Now the bad news. Grady transitioned to a new connector and does not keep stock of the old ones. The old ones are AMPs. Their local dealer up here in the Boston area does not stock the old connectors. If they are not going to maintain availaility of the old connectors, why bother with them at all?
Anyway, I found a source for these items. Newark Electric in Chicago (they don't require you to order 100's of them like most electronic distributors).
Male (Tab) AMP pt # 3-520107-2 Newark pt # 90F3725 price: $.27
Female: AMP 3-520408-2 Newark pt # 90F3754 price: $.24
Sometimes, the simple things become the hardest.
