I HAVE A 1994 252 SAILFISH WITH TWINN EVINRUDE 1995 200HP ONE OF THE ENGINES SURGES AT 3500 RPM SOMETIMES. I HAVE CHANGED THE PRIMMER BULBS AND FILTERS STILL ACTS UP SOMETIMES. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I have seen the same surging -RPM jumps up 1200 to 1500 rpm then settles down, but only in rough seas at high RPMs. If the water gets shallow around the prop it can suck in air or the exhaust througe the prop can build up an exhaust bubble around prop if it digs in to deep thus causing the prop to loose bitein the water. If the rubber connection in the prop between the shaft hub and the prop blade housing is defectice the prop can also loose bite with the resulting revving up of the engin speed as the drive load is lost. There may be carb/jet issues as well. I have heard that some hulls are more prone to this type of problem than others. Good luck finding the real cause of your issue Marty

Check the squeeze bulb at the exact time the conditions occurs, is it full or collapsed?

I TRIED SQEEZING BULB WHEN ENGINE DOING IT NO HELP. BUT THE BULBS WERE NOT HARD EITHER SO I REPLACED THEM.

MGREEN,
I had a 99 232 with a 250 OX66 with a surging problem. I did all the filters, VST screen, O2 sensor and finally changed the low pressure pumps (3) the problem was soved. The pumps are easy to change and about $40 apiece. Good Luck.
Also I took the old pumps apart to see what the failure was and could not determine what had failed.
