Engine Tilt

So I have been noticing lately that the hydrolic tilt on my engine sometimes doesnt move. I think its due to the fluid being low...is there a way to change this or add more?

When I am raising it out of the water about 1/2 way up it starts to make a god awful crushing or scraping noise. What might this be? Anyone heard this before or know what im talking about???

Assuming it's a Yamaha?

On the back of the trim and tilt system there is a Philips head screw/nut/cap that - when removed - allows you to add more fluid. Top it up, run the motor up and down a couple of times, then remove the screw and check the fluid again. When it doesn't drop after you fill it, then it's full
