I am a new Grady White owner with a 265 Express. Want to repower this boat. Would like some suggestions on best options available in todays market. I will be replacing Yamaha 200HPDI's

I've been looking and getting prices.
You are limited by weight. You can't use V6 4 strokes from Yamaha and Suzuki

Yamaha F200 inline 4 cylinder 4 strokes. Digital Controls/gauges. $42k+ for a pair installed. so-so performance. Dealer didn't seem all that interested in selling me... Yamaha is off my list.

Suzuki DF200AP inline 4 cylinder 4 strokes. Digital Controls/gauges. $36k for a pair installed Solid engines. I've had a great experience with a DF140. I almost pulled the trigger but...

Mercury just came out with V6 225 4 strokes (not Verados) that weigh 500 pounds. Digital Controls/gauges. $40k installed was a boat show price I got in January but they warned me they had none available for repowers until fall/winter 2019. they actually have 250s in the 500 pound range too.. I'm going to see how they perform on new boats this summer. look very promising. Maybe some lessons learned from Verado's problems???

I'm trying to get through another season with the OX66s, hoping they don't nickel and dime me too badly....

Wow, you are a great resource. I appreciate your effort on my behalf. Thank you. I will look at your suggestions.

Those new Mercs look like the ticket, twin 500 pound 250 V-8’s ! I have the same boat as you, why are you dumping those 200 HPDI’s ? Love mine.

I just purchased this boat.It has been sitting for 7 years and the engines are plugged with bad gas. The dealer wants big bucks to rebuild the fuel systems. 5 to 8 grand for each engine so am considering starting with fresh outboards.

Was that boat in Charleston? For 5-8 grand you can probably find a set of 200HPDI’s in great shape, seen a few sets for sale on THT. People love those motors, maybe get a second opinion on your issues, I can’t see it costing 8k to get those running.

Super easy to pull the deck and replace the fuel lines yourself , get the tanks polished for 400-500, then change all the fuel filters including the “Mystery Filters” and you should be good to go!
When I bought mine 265 the prior owner never used the Aux tank in 13 years! We did the above to it and they are purring like a kitten. Dealer charged me $1500 to do the filters, plugs, fluids for both engines. Mine had about 480 hrs on them. Love the motors and I burn 14-15 gal an hour at 25 knots so close to most 4 strokes
