I have a 1994 Tournament 19. Today I noticed a small 1" long hairline crack in the thick plastic oil reservoir that is located beneath one of the seats adjacent to the outboard. The crack started to leak oil very slowly but would spurt out a fine spray at times. I have removed the tank from the boat and emptied the oil. The tank appears to be 10 gal if the numbers on the front of the tank correspond to gallons. I could be wrong about this.

I assume this reservoir/tank cannot be repaired and that I will have to purchase a new one.

Any suggestions as to possible repairs or where I can get a new tank. Are these standard for many boats or will I have to get one from my local Grady dealer.

Thank you all for any responses.

Rarely, you see these on EBay. They are available on the web also at various parts outlets. I think the same tank covers several models and model years. You should be able to swap all the electronics from the old tank to the new.

When you install the new, take a look at the mounting bracket and bottom plate to make sure that nothing sharp is sticking up. The leak could just be old age or it could have been caused by chaffing or the like.
I am a little confused about the oil 'spraying" The tank is not pressurised so if it really does spray, I would think that there is pressure. That would narrow down the leak to a fitting or a hose and not necessarily the tank. I can't remember if the there are molded 'tubes' or if the hoses connect directly to the pump.

Cedargrady,

Here are a few on ebay, but none appear to be used. Not sure how this compares with dealer price. Also, if that is a 10 gallon tank, it may have been installed at a later date since that would be a very large tank for that size boat. Most are the 11 liter size. You should be able to go back to the smaller size if you choose. http://search.ebay.com/search/searc...&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=2&fsoo=2&fgtp=

I think the tank is a 10.5 litter model. The part number I think(but not certain) is 6E5-21733-02-00.

It lists for about $85.
Befor you replace, as I stated, make sure it is the tank and not a hose. You have to remove the tank to fully inspect all the fittings.
