hey guys:
I only got a semi clean bill of health from the doctor because my blood pressure is 97 over something or other, which is too low and the doctor said there may not be enough blood being pumped to my brain. You know that could explain a few things.......but I degress. I got home early enough to hitch up my new Grady White Freedom 225, which is a 22' duel console. Getting the boat off the bunk trailer was harder then I anticipated at Sandy Point State Park's slightly inclined ramps. But it came off by backing down a few feet and jamming the brakes. Those slick guides are looking like a good thing for me to get. This is my first 4-cycle engine and I had to go back to see it it was actually running after I turned the key for the first time. I used to stand up all the time on my old Parker 21 WAC, but this helm is so much more comfortable I sat the whole time. I hit the main stem of the Chesapeake Bay at the Bay Bridge just as it was getting snotty. Any doubts I had about only having a 200 hp engine were put to rest because it popped up to 40mph the first time I pushed the throttle to get on plane. I couldn't believe it but it rides like a bigger heavier boat then my old Parker, which it is. And I enjoyed the lack of 2-cycle noise for a change. The mouth of the Chester River was really snotty with a nasty cross chop and that fine entry bow really cut the chop better than the Optimus Prime bow on the old Parker. Of course the cockpit isn't as well protected, but with the bow cover on and the windshield closed I had nothing to complain about. Back at the dock it wasn't as difficult as I thought to load the boat and it's much easier to climb into the boat once it's on the trailer. I know the F225 is 6" narrower than my old Parker, but it seems like the trailer is narrower too. Anyway it was a bit easier to find room between the neighbors property line fence and my wife's Koi pond while backing into the drveway. All in all a very pleasent experience.
