Here's my situation:

1. I have an Offshore with a F225 on a grady drive bracket
2. I want a kicker for trolling and saftey. I have the opportunity to pick up a Yamaha T9.9 XL 25" shaft (remote throttle) at a very reasonable price. However, the model pre-dates power trim.
3. I do a lot of trailering, and fish (80 days a year) in some pretty heavy seas so I think a solid mount would be best for me.

So, is it possible to use a fixed setback bracket with non-power trim motors without falling out of the boat? Has anyone done it? What bracket did you use (adventure marine, panther, other?) and how hard was it to tilt a motor with a 25" shaft out of the water? I'm in good physical condition and don't mind a bit of a the "pain in the ass factor" if it means I can save a thousand dollars, I just don't want have to brush up on my swimming lessons.

I have a Panther 35 motorized tilt bracket for my Yam 9.9 4 stroke kicker. It works great and is very solid. I fish on Lake Erie which is known not to be a very friendly body of water.

I would consider one of those.

In addition, I just added a Panther Steer T4 and now I am in trolling heaven. If only I could swing a TR-1....I had one on my old boat and that was the cat's butt.
