Fresh water pump ?

I need to replace my fresh water pump on my 04 Sailfish. The existing original pump is a Shurflo Blaster. When I researched purchasing a new one, the product description says it is a washdown pump. Anyone know if GW was using washdown pumps as the fresh water pump? Not sure what the difference between a wash down and a fresh water pump. Thanks

There is a difference between a washdown and say a livewell pump. They are designed for different duty cycles, with the washdown a short duty cycle and a livewell a continuous operation.
For washdown versus fresh water, the main factor is the flow rate or gallons per hour. Both applications have short duty cycles in general. You should select a pump with a rating close to the one you are replacing assuming it worked OK.

Fresh water pumps usually have 1/2" fittings whereas washdown pumps are typically 3/4". Or, at least, the ones I've seen are like that. I'm not 100% positive that this is the only difference, although I've wondered the same thing and have never been able to come up with another answer since you can often get either in comparable GPM and PSI.
