Front window detached on Tournament 190

Hi all -- new owner of an old Grady here (87 Tournament 190) and I noticed the passenger side windshield doesn't seem to be attached at the base - the side window and windshield stay are all that's holding tHem in place.

I crawled into the hold in front of the passenger seat to get a look underneath to see if loose/missing screws were the problem, but there don't even seem to be screw holes under there.

So it's a mystery. I gently lifted the windscreen and took a photo, which I've attached here. Looks like some Screw holes under there on the exterior, but they don't go through to the other side so I'm at a loss as to how reattach. Will happily take any advice! Many thanks.

Normally, I would expect to see screws. Maybe the fiberglass in that area is thick enough that the screws don't protrude all the way through or you simply missed seeing the holes? How is the other side attached? You don't think they just used double-sided tape, do you?

The screws on my 205 Tournament don't go through either. If your screws are missing and not broken off in the fiberglass, just go up one size and replace all the screws. If the screws broke off in the fiberglass, just move over 1/2 inch and drill new holes in the frame and fiberglass.

Front side of windshield frame should have a rubber or foam insert along the bottom covering the channel that the screws are in.

There are screws. In order to get to them, you will have to disassemble the windshield frame, remove the glass and the vinyl gasket that sits between the glass and the frame.

Once it's off, go up one size in screws, and use a dab of 5200 in the holes to anchor them tightly.

I can see your picture better, now, on a different computer. Originally, I thought you had some odd windshield with a funky bottom flange. The holes look to be slightly oblonged. You may find the screws inside the channel once you remove the foam. If you have decent access to the where the screws would normally come through the fiberglass to the underside... personally, I would thru-bolt - at least the hole by the center walk through.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I was about to just cement the thing in place with marine adhesive, but with all this detail I can do it properly. Thanks!

That's what I'm thinking -- maybe a machine bolt in the corner as you mention, with a lock washer on the insider, sealed with 5200. Thanks!
