Hello,

Does anyone have first hand experience on fuel consumption for a mid 90's 263 running 1 250 hp outboard? It's a Saltwater Series carburated engine.

Or your best guess?

I'm considering buying one...

I had one...Unfortunately I don't remember the fuel burn but I do remember I didn't like the way the boat rode/handled with the single screw. I traded it after 11/2 seasons for the same boat with twins....Night and day difference...I loved the boat with twins...

How did the 263 with twins handle better?

I'm thinking they burn about 15 gph at cruise, 25 mph, 4500 rpm...

Anyone else?

I think your assumption is about perfect with a light load, smooth bottom in calm seas. Maybe 27mph instead of 25mph. WOT I would think about 27gph topping out around 40mph. Trolling (6-8 knots) about 8gpm I guess - this used to really bother me as we trollled for hours..

The hull pounded more with the single. rolled more, and "Surfed" badly...i know how to use tabs.....Just something about the twins made it settle way down...The 232 is the same way but not as bad.....
