I recently purchased a 1992 Explorer with main and auxiliary fuel tanks and powered with a 2013 Honda 250. What is the fuel capacity for each tank and what kind of mpg can I expect to get at cruising speeds in relatively calm seas?

I only see one gas tank in the 1992 brochure. The tank was either a 93 gallon or a 115 gallon depending on what model explorer you have. I didn't see an option for a second tank but you would know better than I.

Can't say what gas mileage to expect, that depends on a lot of factors. In general, at cruising speeds, (about 3600 to 4200 revs) the motor will burn 7 or so gallons an hour. At 5500 revs, you might burn 18 gallons an hour.

If there's no mention of it in the brochure for your model, you could contact Grady. Or... just pop the inspection plate off and look at the tank tag. Another "or"... since you should really be pulling the hatch off to check the tank condition, you could just measure it HxWxL and convert to gallons.

I have a 94 explorer with, I believe, a 97 gallon main and 49 gallon aux. I have a 250 Yamaha ox66 and get 1.8-2.0 mpg at cruise.

My '92 Explorer has 148 gallon total capacity. I am not near the boat but I believe they are 93 gallon and 55 gallon. I have a Suzuki DF300. Never checked the exact MPG.
