My 1977 204c has a ruptured gas tank (as is evident by the gasoline in my bilge), which is no great surprise at 37 years old. I've been meaning to change out this tank for a while anyway, at the suggestion of the members of this forum, since

Does anyone know of a good source for a new tank in NC? Should I go with another aluminum tank or choose plastic instead?

I just had a tank made for my overnighter by Patriot Marine. I am totally satisfied with the workmanship and service I received.
I had my tank made 1" less in length and width bringing the tank from 65 to 60 gallons. That makes it drop back in easily and I won't miss that five gallons. The tank came with sender installed and four mounting tabs welded to the top of the tank. All told it came to $689 with tax.
That was about $60-100 under anyone else. I'm pretty sure you can have it shipped too.

I considered plastic or aluminum too.
I heard plastic may have issues with the ethanol in today's fuel and it holds less fuel for a given size but does cost less.
I also figured the original aluminum tank lasted 27 years so I don't foresee my having to change the tank again.
Good luck with it.

I "second" the gentleman above on the Patriot Marine. I had 2 tanks made by them this past Fall - a 93 and a 56.. they were great to work with. I live in SC, and the pricing was still better than others, even with the shipping. They also customized my tanks by making them slightly narrower for ease of getting them in and out of the tight holes, and they welded installation tabs to help bolt em down. Very pleased with them indeed. :dance
