Good morning. I picked up a 2010C as a backup to my 7610vsx. In the manual for the 2010c it says it can be connected to another 2010 via what I believe is NMEA 0183 or a prehistoric version of it for the transfer of waypoints. My question is can I do the same with my 7610? Again, it is a backup but, I would like all of my waypoints in the 7610 in the 2010 without the hassle and expense of buying a transfer cable.

Thoughts?

I think 0183 only transmits data sentences (lat/lon, speed, time, heading, depth, etc...). I don't think it will transmit waypoints. You will need the Garmin "Data Management" kit and a blank bluechart cartridge to get them into the 2010.
