I have a 2000 192 tournament. Getting it ready for the season and the gas gauge wont power up. Anyone have schematics or pictures so I can begin trouble shooting. looks like six wires come out of the back of the gauge, one plug( abandoned long ago), and one vacuum tube disconnected.

It would help to know the model of the gauge or at a minimum, a picture of it. By the number of wires, I assume it is a multi function gauge.
In general, you would have one ground wire, a 12v feed for power, a signal from the tank sender (should be pink), possible a wire for a backlight, leaving 2 wires unaccounted for,

Ignition must be on for the gauge to get power.

And a vacuum tube disconnected? What do you think, Seasick? That sounds like the tube for the speedo. Hopefully the other end is also disconnected or he's going to get a stream of water pouring down on his feet!

Lethies, is this a new to you boat? Or have you owned the boat for a while and this is now a new problem? This kind of information is helpful.

Regardless, the most common culprit is the sender. With the key on, remove the pink wire at the sender and ground it - the gauge should go to full. Does that happen?

You still got it, Dennis.
I originally mentioned the speedo water pressure feed but edited out. One thing at a time:)

Ha! Glad to know that people "think" I still got it... guess I'm doing a pretty good job of faking it... oops... ;)

Also, Lethies... assuming the gauge is the Yamaha multifunction gauge... it takes a few seconds for the fuel bars to start to slowly move.

If it is a multi function digital and working normally, when the ignition is turned up, it should go through a self test with all bars displayed as well as the other indications, After a few seconds, it will go into normal mode.
I assume from the original post that the gauge is dark all the time.

My 2000 192 just started having more and more gauge issues over time. Finally faded so badly they could not be read. Just bought two new ones...pricey at about $250 each, but it is so great to have reliable info again. This time, I purchased gauge covers for $15.
Installation is plug and play, but you do have to flip some of the dip switches depending upon the engine you have.
