Grady White Overnighter Elec Panel

Hi everyone...

I just had a new panel installed on my console replacing the faux wood with black starboard. The old switches had the label on the switch, so now I have the dilemma of finding labels small enough to fit over or under the switch. Most labels are about 1.5" long which is too long...any suggestions?

A local vinyl/sign shop can make you exactly what you want in any color and any writing/terminology. Just make sure you get outdoor (UV stable) vinyl.

i've done a few panels out of starboard and have had a hard getting any kind of label/decal sticking to it. Just a heads up.

Two tiny holes drilled in each side of the plastic label and tiny stainless screws should do the job. Sears Hardware should provide. Because plastic is prone to cracking and tiny drill bits break go slow and gentle.
Use a drill press if you can get one.
I've been considering replacing the panel in my own Overnighter as the prior owners added gauges and a 12v port without any symmetry. It all works but bothers me anyway.
I'd like to see the panel you had done.. Can you post a picture?

Hi;
Here is a before and after. I paid a guy to do the panel and re-do the electrical panel underneath as this isn't my area of expertise. It would be good to see if I can find a person to custom make the labels to go around the switches rather than individual ones on top or below the switch. On thing on the panel is that he used too think of starboard and now the top of the panel bumps into the plastic face plate. I think I can shave off some with a dremel or other tool but something to consider as the old panel is thin.

Missed the part about the panels being made of starboard. Yes, hard to get things to stick. Good idea about using small screws. Not sure how well it would work with labels, though, as they might curl over time. It would take a little craftmanship to make them look nice, but you could stick them onto a piece of thin aluminum (1/16" should do the trick) and then trim the aluminum around the label and then screw them in.

I meant to post this earlier, but forgot... Blue Seas makes different sized (and round, although too small to go around a toggle, unless you cut the label in half - but even then it wouldn't match the curvature exactly) labels: http://www.bluesea.com/products/category/Labels

Dennis that label link is worth gold! I was thinking of the stiff plastic labels that are engraved.
You know the ones being hard colored plastic engraved to show letters in the white plastic beneath.

This label source is a better idea.
If they are decals I would just adhere them to washers that fit. Sears hardware is a great source for that.

Yeah, I know the ones you mean, Mike. Haven't seen them available for retail in quite a while, though.
