I have just brought a gulfstream 2002 model with 2x150 Yamaha HPDI engines. I would like to run my 2x140 four stroke Suzuki engines on this rig will it have enough power??

I've seem em with twin 150-4 stroke . I have a buddy with a 25 foot WA ( not a Grady) with twin 150 Zukes and it runs quite well with 3 or 4 adults so my feeling is that the twin 140s should be OK and pretty quiet too.

I had one with a a single 225 F4 - it was ok power for most situations - Ideal is the twin 150 or 200 so I would guess he 140s would be ok

Weapon,

I recently picked up a 1990 230 Gulfstream with twin F-150's and she humps along. 4000 rpms sees 30 mph and she wound up to 5300 and 40 mph with a dirty bottom and barnacles on the lower units and transducers.... Cruise at 3400-3600 is 23-25 mph....20 less hp should be almost no difference as long as they are propped right.

I have a '93 Gulfstream with twin Suzi 140 fourstrokes on a bracket. When it bought the boat, the motors were mounted too low and would only do 28 MPH at 6300 rpm. I had the motors raised and went to 4 bladed props. She'll do 40+ turning 6100 RPM and cruises around 28 mph turning 4200 rpm. My only dissatisfaction is it wants to fall off plane if I let the rpms fall below 3800 and really have to trim the motors down and lower the tabs to keep her on plane. Much below 3500 rpm and it's all over. This can be a real problem in a heavy trailing sea. Other than this area, the boat/motors perform very well. With the 4 bladed props she comes out of the hole quickly and onto plane. I get better fuel economy on this boat than I did my Overnighter with a 200 HP Johnson.

Thanks for the info, and sorry for the long delay in reply. I was reading about the gulfstream with the 140s before I posted my topic
and couldnt understand why the hull would come off the plane so easy when the boats come out with a single 225. I would of thought two props would give you better lift and allow for a better planing speed. You mentioned the motors were on a bracket is this just a bracket on the transom with no floatation. If this is so you may need to put a pod on with floatation in it to carry the extra weight.
Thanks again
