I have a 91 Gulfstream with a single 250 Yamaha. Transome is fine. Thinking of installing a 250 Verado, which by my calcs is abt 120lbs heavier. anybody done this before or had any issues with putting heavier 4 strokes on older 232's.
thanks, Mike

The single 250 Verado is still less than twins, you'll sit lower but I wouldn't worry. Were you happy with the performance of a single 250?

Just curious, why would you not consider the v6 300 from Yamaha? That Yammy V6 300 would be my choice to repower my 250 with if I had the need to do so. That motor is lighter than the 250, more fuel effecient and more powerful. I dont know how it stacks against the verado, but it is a sweet motor. I know you did not ask about this kind of opinion, but a friend of mine hung two those 300s on his 330 and that boat can easily top 45 mph with them.
