Man, my morning has been frustrating. I started out check fuses under the helm because my Simrad AP 48 was not powering up. I took the opportunity to replace 2 cheesy inline fuse holders with waterproof ones.
So after checking fuses my AP still would not power up. Checked the electrical panel in the cuddy. Yup, the switch for the AP was on.
I went back under the helm to look for loose cables/wires. I pulled a cable a bit too hard and it came off its connection. The cable was located behind the wall, hanging down to about the red line on the inside. I was hoping to use the inspection port to find the loose end, simply us more cable from the stored loop under the dash to reconnect. I cannot see enough through the inspection hatch to find the other end. Now I'm in a pickle.
The AP pump is installed under the helm seat on the starboard side. My thoughts are to look at the pump for the cable, and fish tape it back to that inspection port.
I spent the morning on my back, what a pain in the disc.
Wish me luck. The auto pilot check was the last thing prior to splashing her.
