Has anyone changed the gas fill hose on a Grady walk around?

Has anyone changed the gas fill hose on a Grady White walk around. I have a 1993 24 ft Explorer and the hose leaks above the deck when being filled. I tried splicing a new piece in but its such a bad bend the old piece leaks. I think I need to change the entire hose which goes through the deck and around a fish compartment and through I don't know how many bulkheads. Any comments?

Fuel fill

Too funny-here's NautiBuoys agreeing with NautiGirl...Anyways, as NA2P says, although I found it easier to pull the hose up from the tank in my Gulfstream 23. I also had to cut an inspection plate in the side of the WA to re-connect the fuel fill and the grounding straps.

I have a 228 and replaced the fill hose myself. Its accessable above the fish box where it connect to the fill plate. It runs from there down around the fish box and under helm seat entering the tank area just under the helm. Its well siliconed where it enters the tank area.

I snaked the new line w/o much problem, but you might consider, once you disconnect at both the fill plate and the tank, duct tape the new and old hoses together at the fill plate and pull it down. But you'll have to cut the silicone.

And use double hose-clamps just to be sure.

Side note..

Replace the vent hose as well while your at it.. They are both the same age.

I get the idea of an inner sleeve between the old and new hose.

Did you use hose clamps to hold the two hoses on the inner sleeve? And, was the inner sleeve flexible?

I just taped the two together and then secured with black zip ties. Cut them off when done. Snaked thru my underdeck bulkhead cutouts easier as they not much larger than the hose(I had to go thru 2). And then siliconed in on those bulkheads as did GW.

Replacing fuel hoses...

I did something similar to what has been previously suggested.
(on my 1 1/2" fill hose)
I slit both hoses and cut out a narrow pie shaped wedges from each.
I inserted a 3/4' schedule 40 coupling (1 1/4" OD) and predrilled a few hole around each hose in the coupling. The short coupling does not affect the curving of the hose to make turns. I screwed 3/4" wide head screws through the hoses and into the coupling. The screws get set into the rubber below the surface. The pie shaped slits allowed both hoses to taper down to a smaller size so this connection does not get caught up while pulling or pushing in the new hose. I wrapped the connection and screws with black vinyl tape and lightly coated the hose with water soluble duct lube(for pulling wire through conduit). I did not want the connection to come apart while pulling or get hung up. I had heard a few horror stories about how this could be a pain in the arse.
This was a breeze!
