Hey Yall:
I got a call from Glacier this past Monday checking in on me. He said a few folks were wondering about us.
I live on a mountain stream called Caney Fork . We are at the bottom and have a few acres in pasture. The creek rose by my estimates between 10 and 12 feet above its base elevation. We had no damage. Our stores are fine as well as our 2 vacation rentals.
The big picture is from Waynesville to Lake Lure to Boone is severely impacted. We actually got caught in the flooding near Hendersonville as we were headed to Florida. Our flight was canceled and headed out on a journey finding us sleeping in Buc-ees in St. Augustine at 2 AM. Western North Carolina and Eastern TN are in a world of hurt. My heart goes out to my community.
Well, Milton is going to hit the central part of Florida. I have family and friends scattered from Tampa to Orlando to Titusville. My son lives in Oviedo where he attends UCF. I own a house there and I am not going down. I do have a flight scheduled for Friday to be there for a UCF football game. My son is a Marching Knight and plays the sax.
Anyway, it's been stressful here and tourism which is my lifeblood has been hammered. We will bounce back . Any of you in the path of Milton, stay safe. Remember stuff can be replaced..you can't be. Good luck.
