Just wanted to see what peoples thoughts on this topic. I am looking to repower my 2005 Marlin 300. The specs show that it is only rated to 600 hp. There is an amazing deal on Honda 350s, which I would guess would give me better cruise speed and fuel burn, but not sure if the transom can handle the extra weight and power. I would have to think a Grady hull should be able to, but don't want to make a stupid, costly mistake. Thanks

its not a road i have gone down, but i have heard that some will have insurance issues. 700 hp seems like a lot of power for that boat

If you look at building a new Marlin 350s are offered, but am not sure if they added anything to make that possible.

They reworked the transom for the higher power. 2005 with 350s would be nice, but you may have to go diving for them at some point.
I'd be concerned about HP and weight.

Thank you, that's what I figured, but wanted someone to confirm. Sure the salesman would tell me it would be just fine. If anyone else in FL is interested in these engine, this is an amazing deal from what I have seen.

I am mounting twin BF350 in my 306 Canyon what is rated for 700HP.
In your case you are 100Hp over your specified 600 HP and also weoght would be exceed about 400 lbs over a 300HP.
There may be also the problem that the BF350 is considerable higher what can lead that you can't tilt the engines all up, but i depends on the size of the splash well area. On my 306 Canyon i can tilt the outboards up enough that the lower unit is still submerged, but not the intake grilles what would be a problem if your Marlin is in a slip. If she lives on a trailer then max tilting does not matter.
