Hello new to forum but have learned alot as a guest.
put a hole in the lower unit of my 92 johnson 140 lh in lake champlain NY.
I live in wilmington NC Getting a insurance quote but the motor was old and alot of repairs coming up. Decided to take insurance and update motor. What would be the best size motor since I want a little more power, but with a 12 hr trailor once a year don't want much more weight.
Also anybody got a motor ?
Thanks

200 hp, i believe is the max for the 190. i have a 96 yammie 200 and my tournament flies. i'd probably go with a 150 unless you don't mind paying the extra gas. that would give you plenty of power.

A 150 is more than enough on that boat,I would maybe look around for a newer Johnson,2003-07 maybe? 2 stroke,carbs,reliable,380 pounds or so,,

If its an older Tournament 190, it may be a 20" shaft motor...keep this in mind as you are looking.

There are plenty of 150 or 200 HPDIs on the market for people who have drunk the 4 stroke kool aid and are repowering...either one of these would be a good fit.

If you are going new, I'd look at a Yamaha F150...

Thanks for the reply

Great looking at a yamaha 2004 25" 150 4500.00 rebuilt power head hows that sound ? does a rebuild really perform as well and what should I look for

Ignore my previous message about the 20" shaft....if its a '93 its a 25" shaft...
