Finally had to replace the baitwell pump on my 2004 33. I removed the stainless clamp and pulled the hose off the connection on the pump so I could take the pump in and match a replacement. The hose looked fine even though it did seem to come off pretty easily. Brought back the replacement pump and when I went to put the hose on, it went on easily also. Heard a popping noise while I was pushing it on and saw where there were three holes in the hose, each where it appears the original installer had used an X-acto or something to sever the plastic cord that spirals thru the hose. I didn't feel good about just clamping over the connector with those holes so I cut off a section and found it impossible to get the hose on more than about half an inch. That was enough to re-use the clamp and the hose did go over two of the ridges. There have been no leaks but now I close the thru hull whenever I'm not running the pump and find myself constantly checking for leaks. ( A pain since the pump is in the aft bunk under a panel.) Anyone else experience this cut hose thing or have any suggestions as to what to do short of replacing the hose all the way to the well; which I guess is a major undertaking?

Pump Hose

I would use a heat gun on the hose. Sounds like your close. Heat it up real good and immediatly push it on.

Like Hookup said, now if you don't have a heat gun, sneak out the Admiral's hair dryer, it work fine too in high mode.
Try to cut the hose flush at the end, use diagonal cutters to angle cut the plastic rib. This will allow more hose on nipple.

Thanks! I confess that I feel a little duh for not thinking of that myself. Oh well, senior moments get more frequent as time goes by.
