Hi guys,

I need your help again please.
What is the correct way to operate my hot water heater on my 2000 grady 265 express?
Looks like the factory unit.

I know step one is to connect the boat to shore power.
Then turn on power panel on the boat.
Do I then turn on water heater switch?
If so how long do I give it to heat up before I use it?
And how much water should i be able to use before it goes cold?

Thank you! :hmm

Pretty simple - I am commenting from a Sailfiisg perspective but I believe they are similar.

First and most important ensure that you have water in the tank. Just run the hot water until cold flows through the faucets.

Next you turn on power sources, Wait about 20 minutes and you will have hot water. My tank is 8 gallons it will stay hot for a full day on the water. How long it last is just a matter of conservation. Replenishes pretty quick when connected to shore power.

Don't forget to winterize the heater if you experience freezing tempperatures. Some people drain and by-pass the hot water tank. I run anti freeze through it. Takes 8 gallons in the system to flush the water out until if runs pink

speaking of bypass, inspect the heater directly. if it was bypassed, the hot water faucet will push water but not thru the heater. also, you may want to change the anodes. good luck, ron

Ramy,

mine would not work after the it was filled and powered up.

it was a bad heater element. It takes a special type but was only about 30 bucks if i remember correctly. pretty easy to change also. just made a mess because i didn't drain the tank first. now it works good.
