I need to install a bracket to hold a table in the front of a 2005 Grady 225. In order to through bolt it to the fiberglass, I need to get behind the carpeted wall of the under seat storage compartment. Anyone know how to remove that wall in a manner that allows it to be reinstalled without damage?
Thanks

Unfortunately no. The anchor locker is up on the bow. The area to install the bracket is down near the floor.
To be more specific, the 225 is a dual console (225 Tournament) so the bracket will go where the red circle is, and the carpeted interior is that middle open storage compartment.

At first glance, I did not see an easy way to remove the compartment liners to get to the back of the fiberglass

Is it possible that it is not what you are thinking? Meaning, in many boats, area like this do not have a "panel"... instead the carpet is simply glued to the fiberglass.

Either way, it's kind of a moot point, isn't it? IF it is a panel (I still don't think it is), drill through that, as well.

What you are saying makes sense, and is what I expected to find. But, the carpeted interior is glued to a plywood panel, and there is a 2-3” gap between that panel and the fiberglass.
I need to use a backing plate is the issue. Going through the fiberglass, then 2” gap, then the plywood backing, will not provide a solid enough installation.

Worst case is I install an access plate in the compartment.

Interesting. OK, so it sounds like they used the panels to "box" the area to make it look better, rather than follow the contours of the glass?

OK, so I'm not there looking at your boat, but I work on a lot of them. With what you are saying...

-- First, if the panel is thick enough, even with the gap, it will still provide more than enough structural strength for a table. Add another backer plate if you want - like a 8" square piece of plywood or HDPE as an example (or larger if you want). If you want to get fancy, go ahead and wrap/staple it with carpet.

-- Second... it "sounds" like the panel is screwed to chocks that are likely glued to the glass to provide "nailers" for the panels. In this case, the panel is likely screwed to the chocks. Use your fingers and feel along the edges of the panel (especially the corners" and you would feel the heads of the screws that are hidden/buried in the carpet.

Thanks for all the suggestions, and believe you are correct on each.
Boat is stored 30 minutes away, but think I will look for the screws you mentioned first, then cut an opening and install an access plate if there are none.

Yes. What I am doing is very similar, with the mounting bracket on the compartment wall. My issue is getting access to the back of that wall to install a backing plate.
I think cutting an opening and adding an access plate inside the storage compartment will be the solution.
Thanks
