I have a 1988 Trophy Pro with twin 2003 200 Mercs. The ignition switch cracked due to overtightening over the years and purchased a six wire Sierra switch from a marine parts store. I guy at the store stated that this is the only ignition switch for Mercs. When I went to remove the old switch, it has more than six wires coming out of the back. All of the wires have the same color code as the new switch but, for example, the old switch as two red wires coming from the same hole (and two black with yellow stripe, etc). The new only has one red wire, one black with yellow stripe, etc.

Do I cut all the wires and connect the two old wires to the one new wire? (Two old red to one red from the new switch, etc etc etc....)

Thanks

it would sound logical, but I would trace the dual red and black to their source before cutting anything...may even want to contact Sierra about it
